Nikwax Ltd. develops care products and material systems that improve performance and extend the life of clothing, footwear and equipment whilst minimising environmental impact with clean chemistry. We develop and manufacture in-house, from the headquarters in Wadhurst, East Sussex. Nikwax are the only outdoor company to have won the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development and all operations have been carbon balanced since the company was founded in 1977. We have an ongoing dedication to minimising our impact on the environment and a devoted group of people to help develop the business. Nikwax is currently undergoing the exciting process of transitioning to Employee Ownership, which will protect and build upon our purpose and values, whilst securing a bright future for all employee owners.

The Role

Manufacture Nikwax products efficiently to the high standards and quality controls as set out by the Manufacturing Manager by:

  • Manufacturing bulk product to meet production schedules and agreed company standards
  • Being responsible for the setting up and running down of equipment and manufacturing runs and be competent with use of all other equipment
  • Ensuring stock rotation of bulk products
  • Keeping the Nikwax Manufacturing area and equipment clean, tidy, safe and comply with safe working practices, utilising PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), according to agreed company standards
  • Ensuring the company is informed of any faults with machinery, unsafe conditions or practices as soon as they occur.

The Person will be

  • Ideally experienced in working in a manufacturing environment
  • Willing to work with chemicals (training will be provided)
  • Preferably trained in Health and Safety standards
  • Ideally be trained in forklift driving, with a valid license
  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Able to use computers to a basic level.

This role involves manual tasks including heavy lifting as well as working with chemicals; full training will be given and PPE will be provided. Due to our remote location just outside Wadhurst in East Sussex the successful candidate will require their own transport.

The Role

Improve employees understanding of internal policies and systems by creating and implementing training programmes that deliver understanding to employees on our internal systems, working policies and processes and measuring understanding through regular auditing of compliance to internal working policies and expectations by:

  • creating and implementing targeted internal training programmes, that deliver understanding to employees on internal management systems, working policies and processes
  • developing and maintaining expertise on all company systems, prioritising the systems and processes that are widely or regularly used by staff
  • regularly auditing compliance to working policies, processes and procedures and identifying areas of weakness or non-compliance
  • developing and ensuring that internal systems, company definitions and policy training is included during induction of new employees
  • developing a feedback testing system to ensure understanding of internal systems
  • ensuring implementation of working policies, ensuring relevant principles are incorporated into training packages
  • ensuring that all non-compliance is reported to the relevant people.

The Person will be:

  • confident and a good communicator with training experience
  • analytical and well organised with auditing experience
  • attentive to detail with experience of writing and implementing policies
  • educated to a degree level or similar in a relevant subject.

The successful applicant will be based at home but will be required to attend our offices in Wadhurst, East Sussex, at least once per week.

The Role

To clean all designated units to a level that facilitates a clean and hygienic working environment by:

  • providing a clean and enjoyable working environment for others
  • cleaning offices, production areas, washrooms and kitchens/canteen areas
  • vacuuming, wiping down, polishing and emptying bins
  • monitoring and maintaining consumable stocks.

The Person will be

  • committed to providing a consistently high level of cleanliness throughout the business
  • conscientious and reliable individual with an eye for detail
  • self-motivated and punctual with good time keeping skills
  • numerate and educated to GCSE level (or equivalent).

You will be required to work 17.5 hours per week (early mornings).

The Role

Fill, label and package Nikwax products to meet production schedules, by following the processes set for the production of Nikwax product by:

  • Being responsible for the setting up and running down of equipment of filling runs
  • Ensuring the company is informed of any faults with machinery, unsafe conditions or practices as soon as they occur
  • Keeping the Nikwax Filling & Packing areas and equipment clean, tidy, safe and comply with safe working practices, utilising PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), according to agreed company standard

The Person will be

  • Preferably experienced in working in a production environment, however this is not essential.
  • A friendly and helpful team player
  • Conscientious, with an eye for detail
  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Able to use computers to a basic level
  • Focused and used to working in a busy team
  • Be driven to meet daily filling targets.

You will be working between two sites within a 5 mile radius of Wadhurst.


You will be working in a busy, industrious factory environment on the rural East Sussex/Kent border; due to the location you must have your own transport.

The Role

Improve number of helpdesk tickets competed and the average rating on helpdesk tickets by efficiently actioning all allocated tasks to create new or update & maintain existing web content, using standard HTML/PHP/CSS practices to ensure a fast and smooth user experience by writing well designed, reliable and efficient code by:

  • Efficiently actioning all allocated tasks and activities from the Web Services helpdesk, according to the agreed priorities and company procedures
  • Creating new or updating & maintaining existing web content using our bespoke CMS solution. Writing well designed, reliable and efficient code in order to help maximise brand awareness, product understanding and sales
  • Creating website layout/user interfaces by using standard HTML/PHP/CSS practises and working within visual and brand guidelines to achieve a coherent and consistent look and feel, and user friendly experience
  • Writing well designed, reliable and efficient coding to underpin a fast and smooth user experience across different browsers and devices by using best software development practices (including W3C)
  • Ensuring all code and functionality is rigorously tested in the development environment before it is made live, and testing stability after publication. Being responsible for maintaining it to ensure it continues to be reliable, efficient, secure and meets business and user needs
  • Assisting in the collection and collation of website statistics using 3rd party web services such as tag manager, analytics, google console, recaptcha, maps, hotjar and geo locators
  • Assisting customer services with web related enquiries that they cannot deal with by themselves

The successful applicant will be based at home but will be required to attend our offices in Wadhurst, East Sussex, at least once a week.

The Person will be

  • Well organised with an excellent understanding of front-end technologies and platforms as well as programming languages such as Javascript, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Attentive to detail with experience of email marketing tools such as Dotmailer/MailChimp etc.
  • Able to think flexibly and creatively with experience of using email marketing tools such as Dotmailer/MailChimp etc
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to explain technical concepts to colleagues in layman's terms
